This flow control valve is a useful tool for HVAC work as it helps to prevent frostbite from escaping gas. It can be used with R12, R22 air conditioner manifold, and 2# cannister R410a w/ standard 1/4" SAE valve. While it may hold a vacuum, it is primarily used as a flow control valve for pressurized refrigerant. It comes with a green part which is a replacement valve stem 'packing' seal. The green seal can replace the white seal already installed in case it fails to seal. However, the nylon insert may not seal as well as a rubber seal, and it can be difficult to get the schrader valve to lock into the tool.
