The product is a passive DI box that converts a 1/4 inch cable to an XLR signal. The device has a transformer and is mainly used for connecting guitars to a snake or mixer. It is not a preamp and does not add volume to your acoustic guitar. The customer should look for active direct boxes to give a boost to your passive pickup. The DI box works well for electric guitars and pedals too. If you have an XLR input to your computer, you can use this to record directly into a DAW. The DI box has 1 XLR out and 1 1/4'' output/ input for the instrument. The input impedance is high for 1/4'' mic cable inputs and low for XLR inputs. It is possible to correct polarity using the polarity switch on your Console.
