The VOSTOK Komandirskie VDV Russian Airborne Troops Russian Military Mechanical Watch is a highly rated, retro Soviet-style watch with excellent colors and a grainy dial. The watch is simple and has old-fashioned winding. Many users love the dial face, and the lume lasts surprisingly long. The watch is well-built and all made in Russia, down to the movements inside, according to one happy customer. However, some customers had complaints about the crown. It's easy to accidentally screw the crown in when winding or adjusting, and there is no positive confirmation of leaving adjustment mode. The included NATO strap seems easy to degrade and slightly short compared to replacement alternatives. One customer had issues with the watchband, which had sharp edges, and found it difficult to wind the watch.
