Tomahawk Power’s plate compactor is a great quality product that is perfect for sidewalk projects or large concrete pads. The machine is 176lbs dry weight and comes with the option of either a Honda or Kohler engine. Although both engines are good in performance tests, Honda is a stronger brand name with more service centers. The product is shipped in a well-built crate with parts always available for easy support. Many customers have used the compactor on a weekly basis and have not had any issues. It is also lightweight and easy to transport, and the wheels included in the package make it even more convenient to move around the job site. However, some customers have noted some inconveniences with the product. The lack of an engine kill switch takes some getting used to, and the machine’s wheels can get stopped in tracks too easily. Additionally, there were no assembly instructions, and it is not recommended to use the machine with the wheels attached as the exhaust can blow directly onto a wheel and melt it.
