We are proud to say that it is nearly ready to start production. Designed as a bridge between the SA and X v.2 series, this subwoofer also serves as a direct replacement for the discontinued Z v.3 series at a much affordable price.

It boasts the same voice coil as the X v.2 series, providing a conservative 1500-watt RMS power. The motor of this subwoofer features a similar design to the X v.2 series, but with one less magnet slug. This change was made to optimize performance on these frames and soft parts. It also retains a magnet ID shorting ring, just like the X v.2 series motor. We have tooled four new cone bodies and surrounds that are compatible with an entirely different frame tooling from the first prototypes.

Based on the Z v.3 18 surround geometry, these surrounds have been our go-to choice for maximum SPL (sound pressure level) output. In fact, we even use these cones in our Terra for our World Record in the SS 3-4 class. Additionally, these cones feature wide-flange dust caps, just like all the new platform drivers from Sundown Audio. To ensure a perfect fit, we have included custom tooled cast aluminum vent spacers that mate up correctly to these frames.

We have specifically tooled two different spacers for this exceptional line. One of the standout features of this U-Series subwoofer is the cast aluminum surround bolt-on ring. This fully custom tooled accessory provides added durability and enhances overall performance. We have tooled one for each size U-Series subwoofer to ensure a perfect match. When it comes to sound quality, the Sundown Audio U-18 D4 offers a similar sound to the Z v.3 series.
