This book, "Michael Rockefeller: New Guinea Photographs, 1961" features hauntingly beautiful black and white photographs taken by Michael Rockefeller during his six-month stay with the Dani People of Highland New Guinea in 1961. The photos give a glimpse of the Dani life and culture, including some gruesome aspects, such as the photos of young girls who have had their fingers cut off in a ritual to keep evil spirits away. The book is softcover with flaps, 88 Pages, 83 B/W photographs, 1-Page bibliography, Notes on the photographs, 1-Page biography, and 12-Pages of text. Although some customers found the book uninteresting and the photos sub-par, many others found them deeply moving and a great coffee table book.
