POR-15 Top Coats 46808 Editorial Review
POR-15 Top Coat is a paint used to provide UV protection on exposed surfaces. It is a great product to apply on top of POR-15 Rust Prevention. The application on car parts or engine blocks may have some limitations as it does not sand and buff well. However, it is best suited for home applications. The product is shiny and thick and provides excellent coverage and finish. The can may arrive solid hard, but this is because it may have sat too long before shipping. It is vital to apply a rust neutralizer before use and wait at least two hours before applying the top coat. The paint takes about 3-4 days to reach maximum hardness, and it is essential to avoid temperatures below 55°F. Therefore, it may not be a great idea to use it in applications such as below the waterline in boats where there are better alternatives. The top coat works on aluminum and can be used on mag wheels. When applying to fresh POR-15 or painted surfaces, lightly sanding is required. Some other customers have used a HVLP spray gun to apply it.
