The Ka-Bar 1259 is a short fighting/utility knife with a serrated edge and comes with a Kydex sheath. The knife has a solid-edged backstrap that can be used with a ferro rod but it is epoxy coated, making it resistant to the rod until some of the epoxy is worn down. The blade length is 5-1/4" and overall length is 9-1/4". This knife is perfect for hunting/camping and can be carried in any style with the help of ties. It is designed for close quarters self-defense. Although some customers loved the size and strength of this knife, others felt it was too thin and should at least be 3/4 of an inch wider. The sheath design was critiqued and was difficult to get the knife out with one hand.
