GlobMarble Fiberglass Editorial Review
The 1 25mm Fibers for Concrete Cement countertops, AR Glass Fibers are reinforcement fibers that are used in concrete, cement, and gypsum mixes to make them stronger and minimize cracking. They are suitable for use in making cement tiles, countertops, repairing holes on driveways, and even firebowl, although the latter is debatable. According to the manufacturer's specification from Owens Corning, it is recommended to use one pound of fiber per cubic yard of concrete. It translates to a tiny amount, approximately 3/8 of an ounce per 80# dry concrete mix, or half an ounce for a 50# bag. Adding too much fiber can weaken the final product. The fibers will show up on the surface of the concrete if not adequately mixed. You can avoid this by using a two-batch method, where you mix a thin layer without fibers and follow it up with a fiber-enriched mix. Torching the fibers after grinding also alleviates the issue. While the product does not come with a data sheet, you can create your mix using cups to measure the ingredients. However, it's important to note that using too many fibers will not increase the strength of the concrete but instead create a brittle structure.
